Valerian root is a trailing plant with delicate, aromatic flowers and feathery foliage. The root of the plant is also highly aromatic, although it’s reminiscent of well-worn sneakers when fresh.
Most people generally find the herb makes a relaxing cup of tea, or encapsulate the powdered root as a dietary supplement.
Note: Valerian is reported to be a mutagen, so it is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
